SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Antioch. Augustus, 27 BC - AD 14. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 15.48 g, 12 h), Dated year 27 = ΖΚ of the Actian Era, and during the 12th consulate ΙΒ = 5/4 BC. ΚΑΙΣΑΡΟΣ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟV Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. ETOYΣ ZK ΝΙΚΗΣ ( in the 27th year from victory ) The Tyche of Antioch seated on a rock to right, with, below, the river-god Orontes swimming right; in field to right, monogram of YΠA and IB above monogram of ΑΝΤIOΧ. McAlee 181. Prieur 51. RPC 4152. With a stunning portrait engraved by a master. One of the finest examples of this year known. Good extremely fine.
