CYCLADES, Keos. Karthaia. Circa 520/15-510 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 12.5 mm, 2.99 g). Amphora; to right, dolphin swimming downwards. Rev. Incuse square divided into six compartments. Babelon, RN 1912, p. 18, 37 and pl. 3, 4 = Jameson 1277a = Seltman, Athens, 14 and pl. XXIV, 6 = Sheedy 17a (O3/R15, this coin ). Traité II, 1, pl. LX, 5. Very rare. Struck in high relief and finely toned. Good very fine.

From a European collection, ex Tradart, 8 November 1992, 92, from the collections of S. Boutin, Monnaies et Médailles 76, 19 September 1991, 723, and R. Jameson, and from the Taranto Hoard of 1911 (IGCH 1874).
