Description

CORINTHIA. Corinth. Circa 480-400 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 8.66 g, 3 h). Ϙ Pegasos, bridled and with a curled wing, flying to right. Rev. Helmeted head of Athena to right; all within an incuse square. BCD Corinth -. Cf. Pegasi 80/1. Cf. Ravel 241 ff. Sharply struck, of fine style and toned. Some die breaks and die rust, and struck on a short flan, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From the Dr. Paul Peter Urone Collection and from the "Friend of a Scholar Collection", Classical Numismatic Group 100, 7 October 2015, 1390, acquired from Platt in Paris in October 1987, and once in the collection of le Comte de la Closerie des Lilas.
