Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. (Bronze, 19.5 mm, 5.02 g, 12 h), circa 310-305. ΣYPAKOΣIΩN Laureate head of Apollo to left; behind, grape bunch. Rev. Pegasos flying left; below, ΑΓ. Calciati 85 var (different monogram). HGC 2, 1486. SNG ANS 655 var (different monogram). A sharply-struck and well-centered coin of splendid style. Some roughness and doubling on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
