Description

SICILY. Himera. Circa 530-520/15 BC. Drachm (Silver, 24.5 mm, 5.58 g). Rooster standing to left, his right forefoot raised; all within a border of large dots. Rev. Mill sail pattern composed of four raised and four sunken triangles, all in a square linear frame inside a rayed border, and all within an incuse square. Buceti 1. Kraay, Himera, 13 (o8/R8). Traité II, 2, 2357 and pl. LXXX, 2 ( same dies ). Attractive, sharply-struck on a broad flan, and toned. Extremely fine.
