Description

LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 300-250 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 15 mm, 3.13 g, 1 h). Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Six-grained ear of barley with leaf to left; in the field to right, tripod. HN III 1675. Johnston, Bronze, 40. Laffaille 53. SNG ANS 597. SNG Morcom 283. A superb, sharply struck and well-centered coin with a fine green-brown patina. Minor deposits, otherwise, extremely fine.
