MACEDON. Potidaia. Circa 450-432 BC. Obol (Silver, 8.5 mm, 0.54 g, 12 h). Bridled horse walking to right; below, star with an uncertain number of rays (five? or seven?). Rev. Archaic style female head to right, wearing the Thracian alopekis headdress; below chin, large pellet; all within an incuse square. Alexander XXX. Cf. AMNG III, 2, p. 105, 10 and pl. XX, 27 ( no star ). HGC 3, I, 649. Very rare. Well-struck and toned. Very slightly rough surfaces and with a reverse of very rude style, otherwise, very fine.
