SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysios I, 405-367 BC. Hemilitra (Silver, 10 mm, 0.34 g, 3 h), circa 405-400. Head of Arethusa to left, wearing a single drop earring and with her hair bound up with a sphendone. Rev. ΣΥ - ΡΑ Wheel of four spokes, with the legend in the upper two quarters and two opposed dolphins in the lower. Buceti 547. Kreutzer, Kleinsilbermünzen, 1 ( same obverse die ). SNG Lloyd 1379 ( same dies ) . Rare and of lovely full Classical style. With a rough, uncleaned dark patina as found, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
