SICILY. Messana (as Zankle). Circa 525-494 BC. Litra (Silver, 11.5 mm, 0.73 g). DΑΝΚ Rather plump looking dolphin swimming to left within the crescent-shaped harbour of Zankle; border of dots. Rev. Relatively small nine-part incuse divided into equal squares, some raised, some lowered and some diagonally divided; at the centre, scallop shell. Buceti 4b. Gielow 71. SNG ANS 305. Rare. Attractive and lightly toned. Extremely fine.
