SICILY. Akragas. Circa 450-446/39 BC. Litra (Silver, 10 mm, 0.61 g, 10 h). ΑΚ - RΑ Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on Ionic column capital (in the form of a line of pearls). Rev. ΛΙ ( retrograde ) Crab. Studies Mildenberg pl. 2, 10 ( this coin ). Westermark 511.2 ( this coin ). Attractive and clear, with a very sharply struck reverse, and with greyish-purple surfaces as found. Obverse somewhat corroded under the patina, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

The late owner of the "Collection sans Pareille" always supported scholars and very frequently provided material from the collection for numismatic monographs, like the present coin which was published by Westermark.
