PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes III to Darios III, Circa 350-333 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.51 g, 12 h), Ephesos(?). Persian king, wearing radiate tiara, in running/kneeling stance to right, holding bow in his left hand, spear in his right and with a quiver over his shoulder; behind, ΔΗ. Rev. Forepart of a boar running to right. Klein -. Mildenberg -. Rosen -. SNG Kayhan -. Winzer -. Seemingly unpublished. Very fine.
The Greek letters ΔΗ behind the figure of the king indicates a mint in a Greek speaking area. The small bronzes with a Persian king in a running/kneeling stance but with a map of the Ephesian hinterland on the reverse share the ΔΗ control with this issue, thus suggesting they were struck at the same mint and are contemporary.
