★ Regulus, the Royal Star ★
KINGS OF BOSPOROS. Polemo I, circa 14/3-10/9 BC. (Bronze, 21 mm, 9.05 g, 12 h). Lion springing to right; above, star. Rev. Monogram of Polemo. Anokhin 257. HGC 7, 348. MacDonald 230. Scarce. Rough surfaces, otherwise, nearly very fine.
From a Central European collection.
MacDonald assumed that the combination of lion and star on the obverse suggests Regulus, the royal star, which governed the fate of kings.
