Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 22 mm, 4.27 g, 12 h), Constantinople, 6th officina, 420-422. D N THEODO - SIVS P F AVG Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing, turned slightly to the right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield ornamented with a cavalryman spearing a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. VOT XX - MVLT XXX S / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross. Depeyrot 74/2. RIC 219. A very attractive example. A few very minor flan faults, otherwise, extremely fine.
