Description

CORINTHIA. Corinth. Circa 450-415 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 8.11 g, 3 h). Ϙ Pegasos with curved wings flying to left . Rev. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet without a neck guard, and a drop earring in the form of a bunch of grapes; all within an incuse square. BCD Corinth 154 ( this reverse die ). Calciati 87. Ravel 296 (P159/T234, same dies ). Scarce; with a head of Athena of a refined, elegant and sober Classical style. Usual die break at Athena's neck truncation and somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.
