KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.15 g, 9 h), struck under Philip III Arrhidaios, uncertain mint in Cilicia, circa 323-317. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; in field to left, wreath; below throne, ΔΙ. Price 2949 ( as Side ). A superb piece of fine style, very well-centered, in high relief and lightly toned with golden highlights. Good extremely fine.
