SICILY. Leontinoi. Circa 450-440 BC. Litra (Silver, 12.5 mm, 0.90 g, 9 h). VΕΟ-Ν Lion's head to right, with open jaws and protruding tongue; border of dots. Rev. Laureate figure of Apollo, nude, standing to left, holding a laurel branch with his left hand and pouring a libation, from a phiale held in his right, on an altar to the left; in the field to right, barley grain. Reverse struck from a slightly worn die and with traces of corrosion under the toning, otherwise, extremely fine.
