KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.74 g, 12 h), Temnos, struck under the magistrates Exenikos and Geitas, circa 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated to left on high-backed throne, holding eagle in his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, under Zeus' arm, ΕΧΕΝΙ/ΚΟΣ; below, oenochoe beneath vine wreath; below throne, ΓΕΙ/ΤΑΣ. Price 1690. Perfect centering and lovely light toning. Extremely fine.
