Description

Titus, as Caesar, 69-79. Aureus (Gold, 20 mm, 7.32 g, 7 h), struck under Vespasian, Rome, 77-78. T CAESAR IMP VESPASIANVS Laureate head of Titus to right. Rev. COS VI Roma, helmeted and in military dress, seated right on two oval shields, right foot advanced, left foot resting on helmet, holding spear in left hand, right hand on lap; to left and right, eagle flying; on ground to right, she-wolf and twins. BMC (Vespasian) 223. BN (Vespasian) 199. Calicό 738a. Cohen 64. RIC (Vespasian) 954. A beautiful example, nicely toned and very well-struck. Good extremely fine.
