Description

LESBOS. Mytilene. Circa 377-326 BC. Hekte (Electrum, 12 mm, 2.51 g, 3 h). Head of Apollo Karneios right, wearing horn of Ammon. Rev. Eagle standing to right, its head turned back to left; all within linear frame within an incuse square. BMC 110-1. Bodenstedt 104 (f/θ). SNG Copenhagen 316 ( this obverse die ). SNG Fitzwilliam 4361 ( this obverse die ). SNG von Aulock 1727. Very well struck and clear. Fine late classical style. Nearly extremely fine.
