Head of Poseidon to left, his hair flowing down the back of his head; behind his neck, trident; below truncation, tunny swimming to left. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. BMFA 1565 = Traité II, 2, 2604 and pl. CLXXIII, 15. von Fritze 185 and pl. V, 33. Extremely rare. A superbly attractive coin with a wonderful portrait of Poseidon, highly reminiscent of the heads of Zeus on the virtually contemporary silver staters of Olympia and Megalopolis, Evenly worn and nicely toned. Good very fine.
