Description

CORINTHIA. Corinth. Circa 500-480 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 8.68 g, 6 h). Q Pegasos with curled wing flying to right. Rev. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet; all within incuse square. BCD Corinth 25. BMC 66 ( same dies? ). Calciati 57. Ravel 158/161 (P99/T123). Toned with light iridescence around the devices, perfectly centered and quite exceptional. Extremely fine.

From a European collection, and that of Dr. A. E. Mirsky and the Rockefeller University, Gemini VII, 9 January 2011, 402, originally acquired by Dr. Mirsky (1900-1974) prior to 1959.
