Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Timoleon and the Third Democracy, 344-317 BC. (Bronze, 19 mm, 4.34 g, 1 h), 3rd series, struck circa 334-317. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Laureate head of Apollo to left; behind, swan flying to right, head turned looking behind. Rev. Pegasos flying left; below, monogram of EY. Calciati 85 Ds33 Rl1. HGC 2, 1486 ( Agathokles ). Virzi 1577. Glossy dark green patina, and with a fine head of Apollo. Scattered pitting, otherwise, good very fine.
