Description

SICILY. Akragas. Phintias, tyrant, 287-279 BC. Unit (Bronze, 21 mm, 6.92 g, 1 h). Head of Apollo to left, wearing a wreath of grain leaves. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΟΣ / ΦΙΝΤΙΑ[Σ] Boar running to left. CNS I, 117. SNG ANS 1022. SNG Copenhagen 101. For another piece from the same dies, Leu Numismatics 83, 2002, 52; and for two from the same obverse, CNG 67, 2004, 230 and Künker 288, 2017, 63. Attractive and well-struck with a dark brown-green patina. Nearly extremely fine.
