BRUTTIUM. Skylletion, or possibly a mercenary issue from Sicily. Circa 350-325 BC. (Bronze, 23 mm, 7.46 g, 12 h). Male head to left, wearing laureate pilos. Rev. Skylla swimming left, extending right arm and holding oar in left hand. Calciati III, p. 319, 1 ( unidentified mercenaries ). HN III 2565. SNG ANS 800. SNG Copenhagen 1992-3. Very rare, and with a deep brownish-green patina. Very fine.

This issue has been attributed to the mint of Skylletion in Bruttium, but it may in fact be a mercenary issue from Sicily.
