KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.72 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Macedon, probably Pella, circa 325-290. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on throne without back, holding eagle in extending right hand and scepter in left; to left, ΣΙ above monogram of EY; to upper left, wing; below throne, monogram of ΣE. Hersh-. Cf. Price 135 ( with wing, but no controls to left, and different monogram below throne ). Well struck and lightly toned. About extremely fine.
