Aurelian, 270-275. Antoninianus (Billon, 23 mm, 3.07 g, 12 h), Siscia, second officina, late 272 - early 274. IMP AVRELIANVS AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed half-bust of Aurelian to left, holding Victory on a globe in his upraised right hand and a pugio or dagger in his left. Rev. CONDORDIA MILITVM / S * On the left, Emperor, togate, standing right and clasping the hand of Concordia, on the right, standing left. BN 823 var. RIC 218 var. RIC temp 2201 (but this officina unnoted). Very rare, especially with this officina, which may be unpublished. Remains of silvering and with a particularly powerful portrait. Some flatness and struck on an irregular flan, otherwise, about extremely fine. From a European collection. This obverse type is particularly rare, with the online version of the RIC only noting 21 examples. However, almost all the certain examples come from the third officina: this coin is, thus, apparently unpublished. In addition, this obverse die seems to be unknown as well.
