Description

Seleukid Kings. Antiochos II Theos, 261-246 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.89 g, 8 h), Seleucia-on-the-Tigris. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on his bow; on the outside to left and right, monogram. ESM 178. SC 587.1a. An attractive example, struck on a broad flan. About extremely fine. From the Cinquantenaire Collection, Switzerland, and from a Swiss collection, acquired from the collection of a politician formed before the mid 1980s.
