Description
AXUM. Ouazebas, late 4th-early 5th century. (Copper, 17 mm, 1.89 g, 11 h). ⧾ OYAZHBAC BACIΛEVC ("King Ouazebas") draped bust to right, wearing headcloth, flanked by wheat stalks. Rev. ⧾ TOYTOAPCCHTHXѠPA ("may this please the country") small draped bust to right, wearing headcloth; all within circular border. AC 56-58. H 26a. Hahn & Keck 37a. SyllAsh 192-221. Vaccaro 29. Partially gilded reverse. Dent on obverse, otherwise, about very fine.
