SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos IV Epiphanes, 175-164 BC. (Bronze, 17 mm, 4.62 g, 12 h), quasi-municipal issue, Laodikeia in Phoenicia (Berytos). Radiate and diademed head of Antiochos IV to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ / "[belonging] to Laodikeia, mother in Canaan" ( in Phoenician ) Astarte standing left on prow, resting left elbow on rudder; in left field, ΛA; in right field, monogram of ΦΟ. HGC 9, 699 (R2). Cf. Sawaya 62 (D16?/R28; obverse die not certain ). SC 1450. Very rare. The obverse struck off-center, otherwise, nearly very fine.
