Description

Heraclius, with Heraclius Constantine, 610-641. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.43 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 5th officina, 613-616. dd NN hERACLIUS ET hERA CONST P AVC Crowned, with cross on circlet, draped and cuirassed facing busts of Heraclius, on the left larger and bearded, and Heraclius Constantine, on the right smaller and beardless; between them above, cross. Rev. VICTORIA AVGY E / CONOB Cross potent on base and three steps. DOC 8e. MIB 8a. SB 734. Sharp, clear and toned. Some striking flatness on the reverse , otherwise, about extremely fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired from J. Schumann in Amsterdam, prior to 1975.
