Mark Antony and Octavia, 39 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 26 mm, 11.26 g, 11 h), Ephesus. M ANTONIVS IMP COS DESIG ITER ET TER Head of Mark Antony to right, wearing ivy wreath; below, lituus; all within ivy wreath. Rev. III VIR - R P C Draped bust of Octavia to right, above cista mystica flanked by two interlaced serpents. Cohen 2. CRI 262. RPC 2201. Sydenham 1197. Lightly toned. Very fine.
From the collection of W. M. Stoecklin, Winterthur, Switzerland, acquired from Münzen und Medaillen AG in Basel prior to 1981, but said to be from the Voirol collection, albeit not in the sale.
