EGYPT. Alexandria. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Drachm (Bronze, 33.00 mm, 22.57 g, 12 h), the tenth labor of Herakles, Herakles and the oxen of Geryon, year 10 = 146-147. ΑYΤ Κ Τ ΑΙΛ ΑΔΡ - ΑΝΤωΝEΙΝΟC CEB EYC Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. L Δ Herakles advancing to left, lion's skin over his shoulder, leading two oxen of Geryon with his right hand and holding a club in his left; at his feet, body of Geryon. Dattari (Savio) 2621. Geissen 1542. RPC IV.4 Online temp. 13595.4 ( this coin ). Very rare. Dark brown and green patina. Very good/good fine.

From the collection of Jean-Pierre Righetti and the Morris Collection, Heritage Monthly Auction 271933, 18 August 2019, 35049, and from the collections of Kerry Wetterstrom, Classical Numismatic Auctions XIII, 4 December 1990, 208, and the Johns Hopkins University, III, Numismatic Fine Arts and Bank Leu, 29 March 1985, 484l (part - this coin was part of a considerable number of Alexandrian bronzes that were 'traded' to the last curator of the Garrett Collection - since deceased - in a transaction that was both murky and outrageous, in return for coins that were removed from the original collection without record).
