ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Kos. Circa 390-380 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 14.49 g, 9 h), struck under the moneyer Xanthippos. Bearded head of Herakles to left, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev. ΚΩΙΟΝ / ΞΑΝΘΙΠΠΟΣ Crab seen from above; below, club to right; all within square dotted border and square incuse. BMFA 2017. Hecatomnus A10/P18 and pl. 19, 25a ( this coin ). Ingvaldsen, Issue I, 22 (O12/R18, but given the wrong number on the plate ). With a fine and elegant head of Herakles, done in a particularly attractive full Classical style. Rather porous and corroded surfaces. Good very fine.
