BYZANTINE SEALS, Imperial Court. Niketas Artemonites, vestes, circa 11th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 15.5 mm, 3.65 g, 12 h). Facing bust of the Virgin Mary, orans, wearing chiton and maphorion, bearing a medallion with a facing bust of the infant Jesus Christ. Rev. +KE BΘ / ΝΙΚΗΤΑ / ΒΕCTH TΩ / ΑΡΤΗΜΩ/ΝΙΤΗ in five lines within plain linear border. Unpublished. Very fine.
