Description

SKYTHIA. Olbia. Circa 350-330 BC. Large Bronze (Bronze, 65 mm, 106.00 g, 12 h), cast. Head of Demeter facing, wearing grain ear wreath and pendant necklace. Rev. OΛBIH Sea eagle, with spread wings and head to right, standing to left on a dolphin swimming to left. Anokhin 7. Karyshkovskij p. 400, pl. VIII, 27. SNG BM Black Sea 390-2. With a fine and attractive facing head of Demeter, and a green and brown patina with light earthen highlights. About extremely fine.

From the A. G. Collection, Switzerland, acquired from A. H. Baldwin, London, in the 1980s.
