KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.52 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Miletos, c. 190-165. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, star above lion walking left, head right, and monogram of Miletos; below throne, monogram of KA. Cf. Price 2195 ( additional monogram in right field ). Excellent centering and fine details. Light deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
