IONIA. Magnesia ad Maeandrum. Pseudo-autonomous issue, 3rd century. Assarion (Bronze, 18.5 mm, 3.29 g, 6 h). ΜΑΓΝΗCΙΑ Turreted and draped bust of Magnesia to right. Rev. ΜΑΓΝΗΤΩΝ Infant Dionysos, arms raised, seated facing on cista mystica around which a serpent is coiled. Imhoof-Blumer, GM p. 121, 17 ( same dies ). Schultz 517 (V9/R10). Porous green patina. Very fine.
