CILICIA. Tarsos. Balakros, satrap of Cilicia, 333-323 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 10.49 g, 10 h). Baaltars seated left, holding lotus-tipped scepter; to left, grain ear and bunch of grapes; to right, B and ivy leaf; below throne, letter. Rev. Draped bust of Athena facing slightly to left, wearing crested Attic helmet; to left, bunch of grapes; to right, T. Casabonne series 2. SNG BN -. Cf. SNG Levante 121. A seemingly unpublished variety. Well-centered and with lovely light toning. Scrape on obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
