CILICIA. Tarsos. Tarkumuwa (Datames), satrap of Cilicia and Cappadocia, 384-361/0 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 9.78 g, 4 h), struck circa 370. B'LTRZ (Aramaic) Baaltars seated to right on backless throne, holding bunch of grapes and grain ear in his left hand and eagle-tipped scepter in his right; in field to right, thymiaterion; under throne, forepart of a bull to right; all within crenellated wall. Rev. TRDMW (Aramaic) Datames seated to right, in full Persian garb, measuring arrow held in his left hand; on the lower right, bow; in field in upper right, winged solar disk. Casabonne Series 2. SNG BN 286-8. SNG Levante 88. Deeply toned. Porous, otherwise, good very fine.
