Description

SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.92 g, 12 h), Seleukeia on the Tigris, c. 270-267. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on a bow; in the outer left field, monogram of AP; in the outer right field, monogram of HP. ESM 149. HGC 9, 128g. SC 379.3a. Struck in high relief from beautifully engraved dies of fine style. Some surface roughness, otherwise, extremely fine.
