Description

PERSIA. Achaemenid Empire. Time of Darios I to Xerxes I, circa 505-480 BC. Daric (Gold, 15 mm, 8.32 g), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes. The Persian Great King in kneeling-running stance to right, shooting arrow from bow held in his left hand; quiver over his left shoulder. Rev. Oblong incuse. ACGC 81. Carradice Type II (pl. XI, 11). Meadows, Administration 319. Excellent centering! Extremely fine.
