Islands off Ionia. ISLANDS OFF IONIA, Samos. Circa 270-240 BC. Oktobol (Silver, 19 mm, 4.51 g, 11 h), Ptolemaic standard. Lion’s scalp facing. Rev. ΣΑΜΙΩΝ Forepart of an ox to right; below right, olive spray; below and to left, trident and krater. Barron 6 (A202/P206). Nicely toned. About extremely fine.
From the Stoecklin Collection, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired from Bank Leu before 1975.
