ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Danishmendids (Malatyah). Dhu'l-Qarnayn, AH 547-557 / AD 1152-1162. Dirhem (Bronze, 31 mm, 7.04 g, 3 h), AH 553-554 (AD 1158-1159). OMEΓAC AMHPAC ΔΟΛ XAPNAI Arabic inscription in three lines, stating the name and titles of Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Rev. INΔIKTIONOC ΔEVTEPIC Crude bearded and draped male bust to right, the hair combed to the back and tied in a bun; c/m: uncertain Arabic inscription. Album 1240. Artuk 1186. Butak 110. Casanova pl. III, 10. Whelan Type A. Tevhid 117. Dark brown patina with lighter earthen deposits. Very fine.
