John V Palaeologus, 1341-1391. Tornese (Billon, 15 mm, 0.57 g, 7 h), an example of the anonymous "Politikon" coinage, Constantinople, c. 1320-1350. +ΠOΛITIKON Cross pattée. Rev. Castle with gabled center and side towers; above, cross between two pellets. DOC 1209-14. LPC p. 184, 7. SB 2578. Very rare and nicely toned. Good very fine.
