Description
L. Lucretius Trio, 74 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18.5 mm, 3.89 g, 6 h), Rome. Laureate head of Neptune to right; trident over his far shoulder. Rev. L LVCRETI / TRIO Winged Genius riding dolphin swimming to right. Babelon (Lucretia) 3. Crawford 390/2. Sydenham 784. Wonderful rainbow tone on the surfaces. Struck slightly off-centre, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
From a Swiss collection, ex Bank Leu FPL autumn 1998, 163. Sold with the original Leu ticket.
