Description

SIKYONIA. Sikyon. Circa 335-330 BC. Stater (Silver, 23.5 mm, 12.21 g, 2 h). ΣΕ Chimaera moving to the left on ground line, right paw raised; above to right, wreath. Rev. Dove flying to left with wings open above and below; below dove's neck, Ι; all within an olive wreath tied on the right. BCD Peloponnesos 219. BMC 56. Traité II, 3, 775 and pl. CCXX, 12. Toned and attractive. Obverse struck from a slightly rusty die and with a very slightly double-struck reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
