MACEDON. Eion. Circa 600-550 BC. 1/24 Stater (Electrum, 6 mm, 0.64 g). Goose standing right, head turned to left. Rev. Rough quadripartite incuse square. Apparently unpublished as a 1/24th stater. Cf. CNG 91, 2012, 121 = CNG Triton XV, 2012, 1236. An intriguing piece. Minor striking crack on the edge, otherwise, good very fine.

It has been suggested, see the note to lot 109, that these goose coins were not struck at Eion, but since no reasonable alternative has been proposed the traditional attribution has been retained here.
