C. Servilius Vatia, 127 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.90 g, 9 h), Rome. ROMA Helmeted head of Roma to right, star on neckguard; in left field, lituus; below chin, denomination mark. Rev. [C ·] SERV[EIL] Horseman (M. Servilius Pulex Geminus) galloping left, holding spear in right hand, shield inscribed M (Marcus) in left, attacking another horseman who wields sword in right hand. Babelon, (Servilia) 6. Crawford 264/1. Sydenham 483. Nicely toned. Very fine.
