KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.86 g, 12 h), posthumous issue, Black Sea mint, possibly Dionysopolis, 225-190 BC. Head of Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle on his outstreched right hand and long scepter in his left; in field to left, bunch of grapes. Price 947. A well-centered piece of bold style. Some die roughness on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
