ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 148-90/80 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30.5 mm, 16.74 g, 11 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Herakles standing left, nude but for lion's skin over his shoulder and left arm; resting right hand on club; to left, monogram. HGC 6, 359. Le Rider, Thasiennes 52. Toned, and struck on good metal. Small die-break on obverse, a couple of scratches on reverse, otherwise, very fine.
